Holdrege Memorial Homes kicked off the 2019 National Skilled Nursing Care Week with a balloon release and proclamation by the Mayor. Residents and staff gathered at the North entrance to listen to Mayor Doug Young proclaim, "There do I, Doug Young, as Mayor of Holdrege, Neb, declare the week of May 12-18, 2019 as National Skilled Nursing Care Week, a week to honor both our vulnerable citizens who receive care and the dedicated ones giving care." The theme for this year's celebration is "Live Soulfully." A variety of musical entertainment, a Civil War quilt presentation, special coffees, and a visit by the Henry Doorly Zoo will keep the residents entertained for the week. Activities will culminate Thursday evening with the annual friends and family barbecue. Following the balloon release, all an attendance were treated to a brunch in the Chapel/Community Room.
