Ways to Give

Your generous contributions to our non-profit foundation enhances Holdrege Memorial Homes ability to fulfill the primary mission of Providing Quality Care in a Christian Environment.

Holdrege Memorial Homes and the Holdrege Memorial Homes Foundation are 501{c){3) tax exempt charitable organizations and your gifts are tax deductible subject to IRS regulations.

Foundation Annual Fund

HMH Annual Fund is an ongoing source of revenue for all areas of the organization. Contributions may be designated for general donation or to a specific department or project. 100% of all donations to the HMH Foundation Annual Fund are used for direct care and services of our residents. Annual donations provide a consistent income and encourage outlying community support for the HMH foundation.

Honor Giving

Gifts may be given in honor of an individual. As with the annual fund, they may be designated for a specific interest or the general foundation fund. Honor gifts are acknowledged to the honoree.

Memorial Giving

A thoughtful way to pay lasting tribute to a loved one is through a Memorial gift. If donations reach the level of $1000 for an individual, an engraved brass memorial plate is added to our Tree of life located in the west hallway off the North reception area. This kind gesture provides comfort for families during a difficult time. Please include the donor's name(s) and address, the person's name the gift is in memory of, the designated area of need and the relative's name and address who should receive notification of the gift.

Stewardship & Accountability

Every amount donated to HMH goes to directly meet the needs of the residents. All administrative and overhead costs are budgeted, so 100% of your contribution will support the foundation programs. We value your trust in us. Be assured that all contact information of donors is kept in confidence. We do not sell our mailing list and strive to be responsible in our management, truthful in advertising, and cost-effective in fund raising.

Planned and Deferred Giving

Holdrege Memorial Homes Foundation is dedicated to receive and administer benevolent gifts to ensure the financial support for the continued growth of Holdrege Memorial Homes and its Christian Environment. Planned or Deferred Giving is one way to create a legacy in which to ensure that the quality of care our residents and families have come to know will continue. HMH Foundation is a 501(c)(3) corporation, so all gifts are tax deductible.  With the new tax law in place, we would advise you consulting your financial advisor/accountant on charitable gifts.

Wills

The easiest way to make a deferred gift is a bequest in a will. The bequest can be one of the following:

  • A specific amount
  • A percentage of the estate that is left after other estate closing costs have been made
  • The remainder of the estate after other specifications have been fulfilled
  • A contingency bequest
Charitable Gift Annuities

A charitable gift annuity provides income for life to the donor and/or the donor spouse with the balance of the annuity to be distributed following the death of the annuitant. You may wish to consult your legal council prior to arranging the specifics of a gift annuity.

Charitable Trusts

A charitable trust will allow a donor to give cash, real, or personal property to Holdrege Memorial Homes while providing tax benefits to the donor, annual earnings based on the income from the invested trust principal, with the remaining principal/assets going to the HMH Foundation. It is advisable to get expert guidance when setting up a charitable trust.

Life Insurance

Through the purchase of a life insurance policy, a donor can make HMH the owner and beneficiary of this policy. The policy payments are tax deductible while providing a significant future gift.

Retirement Accounts

Retirement accounts and pension plans may be utilized for charitable giving. The funds from these accounts could go tax free to HMH if designated as a beneficiary.

Legacy of Care Awards

You may express your gratitude to a specific employee with a tribute gift to the Foundation. HMH staff are not permitted to receive gifts directly from you, so the Legacy of Care award presents a unique opportunity to recognize special staff. Envelopes for the Legacy of Care may be found throughout the facility or requested at the Foundation or Business offices.
