If you are unable to leave your home, or prepare meals on your own, Holdrege has an answer. For the past several years, Holdrege Memorial Homes has partnered with Meals on Wheels to deliver delicious noon meals to many individuals in the community.
The Holdrege Memorial Homes Dietary Department prepares each meal and has them ready for volunteers to pick up by 11am every day. Brandy Johnson, Dietary Director at HMH stated, "People have a pre-conceived idea of what nursing home food consists of. Meals on Wheels allows us to showcase our commitment to providing diverse and delicious high quality meals to those we serve."
In addition to receiving a balanced meal, individuals are also met with a friendly face to brighten their day. Recently, the many volunteers that serve the Meals on Wheels program were honored as a luncheon. "We have an amazing group of volunteers that serve our recipients," said Rev. Murray Jones, President of the Meals on Wheels Board. "Our volunteers do a wonderful job of connecting with and providing fellowship to the people they serve each day. They are also more than willing to deliver meals regardless of the weather."
All meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 11a.m. and 12p.m. If you would like to begin receiving this wonderful service, please contact Brandy or Vicki in the Holdrege Memorial Homes Dietary Department at 308-995-8631. Should you wish to become a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, contact Jeanne Bergsten at 308-991-1462.
