Loomis Sophomore is new volunteer at HMH

Holdrege Memorial Homes residents have a new face to look forward to every week.  Grayson Trumble, a sophomore at Loomis High School, has been volunteering his time and energy at HMH since early June.  When asked how he decided on Holdrege Memorial Homes, he replied, "Loomis schools require 40 hours of volunteer service before graduation.  My Mom had friends that work here, and recommended that I sign up to volunteer."  He went on to say, " I never thought I would be working in a nursing home, but have been pleasantly surprised.  It is a lot more interesting and fun than it sounds.  So many of the people here have a great sense of humor and make me laugh.  I also like helping people and listening to them talk about their life experiences."

Grayson volunteers on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.  He assists with Bingo and helps transport residents to and from their rooms.  "I really like talking with them when I take them to and from Bingo, and it really feels good to know I'm helping in some way."  Amy Rademaker, Activity Director at Holdrege Memorial Homes stated, "Grayson is very dependable and eager and willing to learn.  He always has a smile on his face and his presence truly brings joy to our residents."  In addition to his volunteer time at Holdrege Memorial Homes, Grayson is involved in many school activities.  He plays football, sings in the choir, has participated in the one act play and speech, writing an oral interpretation of drama.  Grayson is also a film buff and likes to watch and analyze movies.  He resides in Holdrege with his Mom Stacie and his beagle Axle.  He has an older step sister, Ellie and younger half sister, Bree that live in Lincoln with his father and stepmother, Jeremy and Marcia Carlson.
