Volleyball players bring a flower, a visit, and a smile

The female residents at Holdrege Memorial Homes were the recipients of a "random act of kindness" by the Holdrege Middle School volleyball team. Coaches Mike and Joel Pelster arranged for the girls to deliver flowers to the special women that reside at HMH last Wednesday.

"Being and athlete is about more than just practices and games; it's about growth as an individual and as a team," stated Mike Pelster. "It's about experiences and memories, some that have nothing to do with the court or the field.  For our last practice, I wanted to share the joy and kindness of these young ladies with those that will never get to experience the excitement of watching them compete."  The young team made their way to each room to personally greet the residents and visit for a few moments.  Coach Pelster summarized their visit, "Being able to visit Memorial Homes as a team is an experience that will remain with these young ladies long after those created on the court this season.  The beautiful smiles and appreciation from the residents was very impactful.  I hope others take time to experience the joy that comes from interacting with people that appreciate your presence, however brief it might be.."
